Great roundup as always. The reason IBM doesn’t talk about automated ML is that they do not have a coherent offering in that area. Watson Cloud Analytics includes a toylike capability but is not a serious data science product. IBM offers a managed service for SPSS Modeler in BlueMix, and that product has AutoModel nodes, but the product is quite dated overall and not competitive with other products on the market.

Of course, if you talk to IBM sales and marketing folk, they will assert with complete confidence that they have automated modeling, but if you scratch the surface you discover that they don’t know enough to know what it is and how it works.

Regards,

Thomas
